Smoothie bowls are delicious, super healthy and a great way of getting a bunch of nutrients. (So is this matcha smoothie bowl!)

To those who aren’t familiar with smoothie bowls already – there is a big difference between smoothies and smoothie bowls. A smoothie is something that you gulp down in seconds. Whereas, a smoothie bowl has ‘layers’ because the smoothie is topped with toppings such as fruits and nuts. So, you are meant to slowly enjoy the taste, colour, texture and flavour with a spoon unlike a straw which you use for a smoothie!

And as we all love some matcha, we have added some into this smoothie bowl recipe. Before we jump to the recipe, here are matcha’s main benefits:

Matcha tremendously boosts energy over sustained periods of time, it has a high content of vitamin A & C and a good amount of dietary fibre and protein. This makes it an ideal companion in your breakfast meal. Matcha also possesses high antioxidant levels which help to reduce inflammation and prevent certain chronic diseases!

Strawberry Matcha Smoothie Bowl

  • 2 tsps LVL matcha powder
  • cup strawberries 100g (cut and frozen)
  • ½ cup plant-based milk 120 ml (use oat milk to make the smoothie base more frothy)
  • 1 banana sliced and frozen


  • Fruit of choice strawberries/banana/blueberries
  • Nuts of choice almonds/walnuts
  • Seeds of choice flaxseeds/ chia seeds


  • Add all ingredients for the smoothie to a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Add the toppings and serve immediately!


Note: Using frozen strawberries and bananas makes the smoothie richer and creamier.
