Ways To Naturally Boost Your Energy

What is a typical day in your life like? Chances are, you’re always having your plate full of work. You’re up early in the morning, you work hard all day, and then you hit the gym or go out to see your friends. On weekends and holidays, you visit new places and engage in different hobbies and activities. So, you must be excited to know how to boost your energy?

It feels great to accomplish all the tasks you set out to do, but there are trade-offs. Having a packed schedule is fulfilling but always remember to recharge your health!

When you find yourself nodding off at a meeting or feeling too tired to work out, it can be tempting to reach for a sugary snack or gulp down a few energy drinks. But those are just quick fixes, and most likely, your energy level will drop again.

Try these simple tricks to boost your energy levels and maintain them:

1. Always eat breakfast.

A good breakfast can keep you energized throughout the day. A 2019 study shows that eating breakfast every day improves your cardiovascular health and reduces mortality rate significantly.

For a power-packed breakfast, make yourself rolled oats, sweet potatoes, or brown rice!

These carbohydrate-rich foods are packed with protein, iron, fiber, vitamins, and minerals to boost your daily activities. They have a low glycemic index as well, which provides a sustained release of energy into the bloodstream. This allows the body’s fuel to last longer.

2. Drink healthy energy boosters.

Instead of reaching for a sugary drink when you start to feel sleepy in the middle of the day, choose healthier alternatives.

Cacao is good because of its moderate caffeine content. Baobab is another healthy option as it helps reduce fatigue.

Green powders from plants, such as spirulina and moringa, indicate the presence of chlorophyll, which aids in good oxygen supply in the body, thus enhancing performance.

Moringa also contains vitamin C and a wide range of B-Vitamins, which provide a natural energy boost.

Add these powders to your smoothie or shake them up with plant-based milk for an energizing drink!

3. Avoid eating junk food.

“If you want better energy, stay away from the stuff that will make you feel lethargic. This includes processed food, junk food, and deep-fried food”, says Harvie de Baron, a nutrition specialist, coach, and founder of Baron Method, a nutrition program that aims to transform one’s health through the healing power of food.

This may be easier said than done, but the key is to make just a few small changes. For instance, try homemade kale chips when you’re craving something crunchy and salty, or have some natural greek yogurt instead of ice cream.

De Baron recommends eating more whole foods as an alternative to processed food. He also incorporates superfoods, such as moringa, chia seeds, turmeric, and maca, into his meals. “These foods are so powerful. They are all beneficial to the body.”

However, he cautions against foods that are disguised as healthy, but actually have harmful ingredients. “For instance, if it’s a chia pudding ice cream or an aloe vera drink with tons of sugar, no way is that beneficial to your body”, he says.

At the end of the day, the least processed food is the healthiest option!

4. Choose healthy pick-me-ups.

If you’re looking for a healthy snack, try quinoa or hummus, which are made out of chickpeas.

Quinoa is a good natural energy booster. It has all nine essential amino acids for muscle synthesis, strength, and recovery. Chickpeas or garbanzos are also great as they are packed with protein and iron.

Level up plain hummus by mixing in a scoop of moringa powder to give it a serious superfood boost. You can also dip your carrot sticks in hummus for a healthy and tasty snack!

5. Find a workout you love and do it consistently.

Do you feel sluggish because you don’t move around much? Your favourite exercise can come to the rescue!

Exercise is the most underrated medicine. Depending on your health status, just 15 to 30 minutes of moving around every day can do wonders for both your physical and mental health, which in turn can boost your energy.

Do you love dancing or playing a sport? When you choose a workout that excites you, it won’t feel like work at all.

If you have no time to do a 30-minute workout in the middle of the day, then perhaps you can simply walk around the office or around your block if you’re working from home.

Just as a marathoner runs one kilometre at a time to get to the finish line, having a healthy lifestyle can also be achieved one simple step at a time. As time goes by, it will get easier because when you become more energetic, you also become more productive. Increased productivity will then allow you to complete all your tasks, giving you more room to do the things you love and spend time with the people who matter most.
